Xiaomi Unveils SU7: First-Ever Electric Vehicle with Smart Features


Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi has officially introduced its inaugural electric vehicle, the highly awaited SU7 sedan, during the "Stride" event held outside China.



Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun revealed the vehicle's design and features, emphasizing its integration with Xiaomi's smartphones and the HyperOS operating system.


The live-streamed event, hosted on Xiaomi's official YouTube channel, highlighted the company's foray into EV technology without specific product launches.


Lei Jun teased the SU7 on the social media platform X, showcasing its sleek grey design with five-spoke alloy wheels and Michelin tires, reminiscent of advanced car systems like Tesla's Model S.


The car's side view mirror, housing a camera, further suggests advanced features. Xiaomi aims to position itself among the top five global automakers.


Xiaomi SU7: Price and Models Reports suggest Xiaomi will release three models:


Xiaomi SU7, Xiaomi SU7 Pro, and Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, featuring distinct ranges and capabilities. The base model is projected to reach a top speed of 210 km/h, while the SU7 Max variant may hit 265 km/h.


Despite allusions to smartphone and smart home integration, Xiaomi has not disclosed pricing or technical specifications. Trial production is underway, with a Chinese market debut expected in the coming months.

Amidst a competitive market, Xiaomi's cars, manufactured by a unit of state-owned BAIC Group, will be produced in Beijing at a factory with an annual capacity of 200,000 vehicles. The company emphasizes industry-leading autonomous driving capabilities for its EVs.
