WhatsApp will let you send images and videos in their ‘Best Quality’

Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp is working on new image and video quality options as it looks to catch up with its competitor Telegram when it comes to features.

According to WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, the developers of the app are testing new image and video quality options, allowing users to choose between best quality and data saver. This would let you send better quality photos and videos based, so you don’t have to worry about WhatsApp compression ruining them.

Based on the screenshots posted by the tracker, WhatsApp will offer three options – “Auto”, which is selected by default, “Best quality”, with presumably less amount of compression, and “Data saver”, which will be the most useful on slow mobile data connections or low data caps.

With the “Best quality” option enabled, users will be able to send high quality photos and videos to others. At the moment, it is not known when the option will be available to users but as it is being tested, we expect it to be available soon.

The app researcher reported the feature was in development last year, and more recently Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed the feature will launch soon.

Recently, WhatsApp launched a new playback speed feature for voice messages on the platform. The users can play voice messages on the Facebook-owned messaging platform at different speeds.

It is also working on a range of other features, one of the most anticipated ones being multi-device support.

WhatsApp will release the first version of multi-device beta for WhatsApp Web, WhatsApp Desktop and Portal only, according to reports.

The multi-device support feature lets users use their WhatsApp account on multiple devices without requiring an active Internet connection on their main device.

Last month, WaBetaInfo had shared a glimpse of new features coming to WhatsApp along with screenshots of a group chat with WhatsApp head Will Cathcart and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. These included multi-device support and a disappearing mode.
