Lamborghini’s Lanzador EV concept has over one Megawatt of peak power

Lanzador: Lamborghini's Electrified Vision

Lamborghini is driving into an electrified future, and the Lanzador is the embodiment of this vision.

With a peak power output of one megawatt, equivalent to over 1,000 horsepower, the Lanzador is set to redefine electric vehicle (EV) performance.

Tech Halo for Lambo

Recently unveiled at the 2023 Monterey Car Week, Lamborghini introduced its latest concept EV, named the Lanzador.

This Italian supercar manufacturer envisions the Lanzador as a grand tourer, with a potential production version expected as soon as 2028.

Here's what we know so far.

The Lanzador boasts a high ground clearance, 2+2 seating configuration, and large 23-inch wheels. Its design seamlessly combines elements from the Urus SUV and the Huracan super sports car while establishing a unique identity.

Although not Lamborghini's first foray into all-electric concepts (credit to the 2017 Terzo Millennio concept), the Lanzador signifies the automaker's determined pivot towards high-performance battery-driven vehicles.

In terms of aesthetics, the Lanzador concept exhibits a striking fusion of the Urus SUV's robustness and the Huracan's sporty elegance.

Its 2+2 seating layout positions it as a grand tourer, emphasizing both style and practicality. The Lanzador, in its current form, features an all-wheel-drive propelled by two electric motors, each driving an axle.

Lamborghini claims this system delivers a peak power output exceeding one megawatt, equivalent to around 1,340 horsepower.

Furthermore, the driver has the capability to fine-tune power distribution between these motors for a personalized performance experience.

Driving the Lanzador promises to be an unparalleled adventure. Lamborghini is integrating "significantly" more sensors and actuators into the supercar's dynamic driving control to ensure an exceptionally smooth and precise ride.

The Lanzador's algorithmic computer processes data continuously, enhancing the driving experience over time.

The hexagonal-shaped taillights, featuring three LED elements on each side, draw inspiration from the iconic Countach LPI 800-4. Speaking of hexagons, the sturdy 23-inch wheels incorporate hexagonal elements and aero blades, reducing aerodynamic turbulence.

These oversized wheels grant the Lanzador a notably higher ground clearance compared to Lamborghini's typical lineup, rivaling the Urus SUV in this aspect.

Despite its elevated stature, the Lanzador maintains a roof height of 1.5 meters, or just under five feet, making it shorter than the Urus.

However, these wheels contribute to the Lanzador's rugged appearance, suggesting an ability to conquer various terrains or navigate the rolling hills of Northern Italy.

Unlike previous EV concepts, the Lanzador represents a glimpse into Lamborghini's future. The automaker has embarked on a €1.9 billion ($2 billion) electrification strategy, commencing with the introduction of gas-electric hybrid versions of its entire lineup.

This transition will culminate in 2028 with the launch of a brand-new, all-electric fourth model. Already, we've witnessed the introduction of one plug-in hybrid, the 2024 Revuelto, set to replace the Aventador, with more innovations on the horizon.

In addition to all-wheel drive (AWD), the Lanzador concept incorporates a steerable rear axle and air suspension.

The interior of this concept EV provides a glimpse of the next generation, featuring a cockpit layout, increased storage solutions, and dual screens catering to both the driver and front passenger.

With the absence of traditional transmission, Lamborghini maximizes storage space in the cockpit, a characteristic commonly associated with EV design.

The Lanzador represents Lamborghini's bold step into the electric vehicle landscape, promising groundbreaking performance and style while retaining the unmistakable spirit of a Lamborghini supercar.

This is what will solve our transportation problems. Everyone gets one, no one can afford to drive it. Highways empty. Congestion decreases. Problem solved. Now quit reporting on fetish vehicles which do nothing to solve the crisis caused by our current auto fetish.
